I have just received the response(s) back about disposing of the old
batteries from my scooter.
Might be useful.
Hi Josh,
Thanks for your query. These battereis, if of dometic qu7nataties (ie:
1-2) can be dropped off at no charge at any other hopusehold hazardous
goods drop off located at the 3 EcoDeports (re-branded refuse stations)
at no charge.

Thanks Don - this is a member of the public wanting to know what to do
with their old battery. Can they drop it off at the hazardous waste
drop off?

Hi Sarah
A gel battery is a lead-acid battery with gelified electrolyte. It is
one of the types of VRLA battery. Rechargeable gel batteries are
primarily used in automobiles, boats, aircraft, and other motorized
vehicles. Unlike a traditional wet-cell lead-acid battery, the cells of
a gel battery are valve-regulated.
The best suggestion is to ring Chemwaste (3845435). I have search for
details but cannot find any thing about the disposal.

Any idea what these are? Would they fit in h/hold hazardous waste?

Subject: Sealed Gel Battery Disposal
Hi,
I've just changed the batteries in my electric scooter
(http://josh.zype.co.nz/interest/electricscooter) and was wondering what
the best way of disposing of them would be. They are sealed deep cycle
batteries and don't seem to fall under the usual lead/acid or car
battery disposal.
Any thoughts/advice much appreciated
Thanks
